The Parish Council is responsible for a wide range of services throughout the Parish. The following table lists the details of each of these services.

 Butcher, Barber & Hairdressers

All Barbers, Hairdressers and Butcher must be
licenced to operated in the parish. Persons found operating illegally will be prosecuted and face closure. 

Public Market

 Vendors

 All vendors are expected to use the Markets to vend
their wares in the Markets. They are situated in the Towns of Port Maria, Highgate, Annotto Bay, Oracabessa, Gayle and Retreat.

Minor Water Supply

 Water Dept.  Local Revenue & Specific Grant  Water Supply Consumers

There are several minor water supplies in the parish, this includes 35 water sources and over 900 domestic and commercial connections. The Council charges a monthly flat rate that is payable at the Parish Council or to the Cashier at the outstations.  

Parochial Roads

 Roads & WorksMotor Vehicle Licensing Motoring Public 

The Council is in charge of 1986 kilometres of
Parochial Road surfaces. This is funded by Motor Vehicle Licencing Fees. Persons are encouraged to Licence their vehicles in the parish at either the Annotto Bay or Port Maria Collectorate to ensure that these roads are repaired and maintained. 

Building Regulations

 Building & Subdivision. Local RevenueAnyone making or extending building 

All buildings being erected or renovated in the
parish must be approved by the Council before construction, also, persons subdividing their lands must apply to have these done. Anyone who proceed without complying will be prosecuted.

 All public beaches are opened to the public free of cost.

Sanitation/Public Cleansing

This service is funded by Property Tax collection.
Persons are asked to pay their taxes at the Collectorates in the parish to ensure that the funds come back to the parish to finance these services. 

Street Lighting

Persons are asked to pay their taxes at the Collectorates in the parish to ensure that the funds come back to the parish to finance these services. 

Disaster Preparedness

 Direction & Administration General Assistant GrantGeneral Public 

The council in collaboration is responsible for
rehabilitation after disasters. 

  Poor Relief Services

Poor Relief Dept.   Specific Grant Indigents 

The parish council in collaboration with the
Ministry of Social Security are responsible for the Wellbeing of poor persons/indigents of the parish. There are over 600 registered poor individuals in the parish and more than 83 residents in the St. Mary Infirmary.

 There are six (6) public Cemeteries operated. These are located in Port Maria, Highgate, Annotto Bay, Tremolsworth, Richmond and Marlborough. There is also one pending for Industry Pen.

Places of Amusement

   

The Council is responsible for Licencing all places of Amusement. They are also responsible for issuing one (1) day Licences for dances, parties and stage shows.

 

Advertisements

   Anyone wishing to erect a Billboard of any size
must first apply to the Parish Council before they do so.
 

Bus Park and Taxi Stand

The Council is responsible for the Annotto Bay Taxi Stand and Bus Park. One (1) is currently being erected in the Highgate area.
