ST.MARY PARISH COUNCIL: PERFORMANCE/ACHIEVEMENTS 2003/04

Roads and Works

 

            Rehabilitation of 15 Parish Council Roads or parts, thereof in all 13 Divisions inclusive of road to Port Maria Hospital and Infirmary.
            Comprehensive Drain Cleaning Programme in the towns of Port Maria and Annotto Bay:
            Implementation of maintenance programme for crucial drains. 
            Fencing of Annotto Bay Cemetery
            Rehabilitation of Cenotaph
            Rehabilitation of Claude Stuart Park inclusive of beautification and installation of benches.
            Paving of Council’s drive way and parking area and construction of Garage

 

Remarks

The inadequate funding from the Parochial Revenue Fund (Rd.Mtce) has affected the Council’s ability to improve more roads in the Parish.


Water Works


            Purchase and installation of 13-1000 gal water tanks to facilitate trucking of water to district throughout the parish.

            Rehabilitation of Fellowship Hall Water Supplies and upgrading of Scotts Hall, Hampstead and Rock River Water Supplies.

 

Remarks

The council’s approved Budget for Minor Water Supplies does not allow for the level of maintenance required for the 47 water sources and for the continuous trucking of water to area without potable water.

 


Port Maria ( Capital)

            Successful campaign to eliminate street vending.
            Streets being swept each day. Difference notable.


Public Education

            A programme of Town and community meetings have been embarked on to sensitize the parish on the responsibilities/ function of the council and to solicit the assistance/ cooperation of the parish.

 

Municipal Services

            Repairs to the Port Maria, Highgate and Annotto Bay Markets
            Establishment of Bus/Taxi Park in Annotto Bay.
